A couple of disturbing things

5 Mar

It’s been far too long since I have updated my blog and tonight I have been chilling out, reading some blogs, and it got me to thinking I really really should post an update. There are a couple of things that have been playing on my mind so that could be a good place to start!

First up the Anti Counterfeiting Trade Agreement or ACTA is a rather secretive trade agreement that plans to enforce international standards on intellectual property rights. The jist of the act is that ISPs can give out personal information about “suspected” file-sharers without a warrant. (more…)

Search the Internet, with a picture?

11 Dec

Well the guys over at Google have gone and done it again. They’ve invented yet another way to make their search engine just that bit better than the rest.

The new offering dubbed ‘Google Goggles’ allows you to take a picture on your cellular phone and use that picture to search Google. Take a picture of the Golden Gate Bridge, send that off to Google’s servers and you will receive search results on guess what… the Golden Gate Bridge!

It’s pretty new technology by the looks of things, and even Google don’t have much to say about it on their website, but this is something to watch over the coming months/years. Will this turn out to be the next big thing, taking Google to new highs whilst Microsoft’s Bing and Yahoo come crashing down? Only time will tell.

One thing is for sure, this is interesting stuff that can only get better, find out more at: http://www.google.com/mobile/goggles/

Welcome to my new, and improved, blog!

27 Nov

Who would have thought it. After possibly the worst server move I have ever administered I managed to forget to copy over my site (doh!) so the blog you’re looking at is brand new and improved, because if it wasn’t then you would be seeing a blank page :p

I’m still customising the design, but for now it should do the trick, and now I’ll shut up about the boring stuff and let the content do the talking ;-)
